Aria (Blue Notes #3) Prerelease Contest!

Happy Tuesday everyone!  Less than a month to go now until the release of the third book in the Blue Notes Series, Aria.  The book is up on the Dreamspinner Press website for preorder, so reserve yourself a copy now!

To celebrate the upcoming release, I’m holding a contest for a Blue Notes t-shirt (Blue Notes Series cover of your choice).  You can see all the covers here.  The contest is open to anyone in the United States who comments on my blog between now and midnight Saturday, December 8th.  Please be sure to leave an email address where I can reach you if you’re the winner!

Aria is the story of lawyer Sam Ryan, whom some of you may remember from the end of the original Blue Notes.  Still reeling from the sudden death of his longtime partner, Sam meets aspiring opera singer Aiden Lind in a Manhattan gay bar.  Immediately, sparks fly between the two men.  But Sam is still grieving, and when Aiden receives a prestigious scholarship to study in Europe, Sam lets Aiden go.

Five years later, the two men meet again at a party in Paris hosted by Blue Notes pair Jason Greene and Jules Bardon.  Aiden is now at the top of his game, performing internationally with the best opera companies.  Sam thinks he’s finally ready to move on, but he’ll have to convince Aiden to forgive him for breaking his heart years before.

Aria, like the other Blue Notes Series novels, is a standalone story, and can be read in any order.  Readers of the other books in the series will recognize several other characters in the story, including cellist Cary Redding (The Melody Thief), and conductor David Somers (who will have his story told in Prelude, book four in the series, due out this spring).  To read an excerpt from Aria, click here and scroll down to the excerpt tab.

Don’t forget to comment on my blog.  I’ll draw a winner from among the comments on Sunday, December 8th.  There’s also a Goodreads giveaway you can enter here to win a signed copy of the paperback version of Aria.  Good luck everyone! -Shira

Nice excerpt! I’m very curious to see how you depict the backstage world of opera. Once upon a time, I was training as a classical pianist (though I never got good enough to go professional).

    And I’d love a shirt! 🙂

Thanks, Jamie! I’ve got you entered. I have a bit of the actual backstage sort of thing in the novel, although more of it is about the life of an opera singer (travel, rehearsals, that sort of thing).

Piano has always been my favorite instrument, I think. I always wished I’d studied it instead of violin. I wanted to play all the romantic rep like Brahms, Schumann, and Chopin! -Shira

Brahms is the best! (Followed by Debussy, imo.) I picked up the violin once…and quickly put it down. Too hard to figure out where the notes were. Piano was easy, by comparison. 🙂

A T-Shirt? With one of your Book Covers? *Swoon!* I’d be the envy of all who looked my way! Did you know Greensboro and Raleigh are considered gay cities? There’s a college near me that is almost 40% LGBT. Imagine that! 😀

LOL – they are pretty, aren’t they? I love Dreamspinner’s artists. I am SO not a visual arts person myself, that it’s amazing to me how well the artist are able to capture the essence of the books. XD Got you entered, Rush! -Shira

    Hi Shira,

I love your writing! I have the first two books in paper (it still seems more permanent than e-books, although I read those too). I would love an Aria t-shirt. I’m happy you publish through Dreamspinner Press, as I think they are the best in mm fiction.

    Thanks,
    Susan (skadlec1@yahoo.com)

Thanks so much, Susan! Dreamspinner’s books are so pretty, too, aren’t they? I love Dreamspinner too, and not just because they publish my books – they’re good people, and my editor rocks. Good luck on the drawing! -Shira
