The Hop Against Homophobia and Transphobia was a resounding success! I had so many wonderful comments over the 10 days of the hop – it makes me so hopeful that things are really beginning to change for LGBTQ persons. Don’t forget to keep spreading the word that love is really the answer and that we all suffer when people hate and fear what they don’t understand.
I’ve got three winners to announce for my HAHAT hop prizes! Shirley Ann, you’ve won the ebook. Wendy, you won the Blue Notes Series t-shirt. And last but not least, Norma, you’ve won the paperback. I’ve emailed all of you with details, so be sure to check your spam folders, in case you haven’t seen my email!
I’ve got two more contests going on, for those of you who didn’t win this time. First up is a Goodreads giveaway for a paperback copy of the brand new Prelude! You must be a Goodreads member to enter, but I highly recommend joining. It’s free, and it’s a wonderful way to network with other readers about your favorite books (think Facebook for readers and writers). Here’s the link. The Goodreads giveaway ends at midnight on May 31st, so you still have a few days to enter.
The other giveaway ends tonight, May 28th, at midnight. To enter, just comment on my blog post at the lovely Clare London’s blog. I’m giving away an ebook copy of one of my Dreamspinner Press books (reader’s choice). Here’s the link.
Finally, a quick wrap-up of Media*West 2013. I flew back from Lansing, Michigan last night after a wonderful four days spent at the Dreamspinner Press table. I was joined by J.P. Barnaby, Helen Pattskyn, Venona Keyes, and Thea Nishimori. We sold a lot of books, did some fun panels, had some great meals together, and enjoyed ourselves! The lovely Dianne Thies, an avid reader and reviewer of MM, joined us for sushi on Friday night.
Media*West is a great con, and the people we met there were lovely (and fascinating!). It was originally a sci fi fan-fiction/fanzine con that still has at its core fan fiction and sci fi fandoms. There were at least a dozen canine attendees (yes, real dogs, not people dressed up as them), one cat, and a parrot! Snarky/funny t-shirts were de rigeur, although we did have a few cosplayers in attendance. The weather was amazing. I have no doubt Dreamspinner will be going back (I certainly will be!).
Well, I’m off to polish off the final draft of Encore before I ship it out to Dreamspinner. If they chose to contract it, we’re looking at a November publication date. Have a wonderful week! -Shira
PS: Haven’t bought Prelude yet? It’s 20% off at the Dreamspinner Press website this week!
